Dress Shirt Placket Types
Your dress shirt’s placket is something most men never think about. Perhaps you
don't even know what a placket is! It’s that strip of fabric going down your men’s dress
shirt, where your buttons are. Have some fun when styling it.
Add a nice contrast color or pattern for your placket. Design your

now. Make it exciting.
Contrast Placket
The
contrast placket is similar to contrast dress shirt cuffs and dress
shirt collars. It’s a white placket that contrasts the base color of your custom
dress shirt. Many more formal dress shirts have a contrast collar and cuff, but
we decided to introduce the contrast placket as an option for your
custom men’s dress shirts.
While it’s not an original idea, it’s one of those styles that are always limited
in quantity, so we decided to really cater to you and offer it to you just in case
you wanted it.
Normal Placket
The normal placket is a strip of fabric raised off the dress shirt
front with stitches down each side. Keep this option if you want to be adventurous
with the other parts of your dress shirt. This is what most casual shirts and many
dress shirts have as standard. How can you go wrong?
French Placket
A more modern look, the edge of the shirt front is folded over to create a creased
edge and held together by the button holes. The
French placket dress shirt is considered dressier than the standard
placket, but nonetheless a popular choice. NOTE: You can’t add a special contrast
color or pattern to a
men’s dress shirt with a French placket because there’s no separation
between the placket and the base of the dress shirt.
Covered Placket
Rarely seen on off-the-rack shirts, the fold is designed to cover the dress shirt’s
buttons entirely, and is a very alternative option. Dressier, minimalist and much
more formal, but very 007-esque.
